Travelling to Guadalajara
There are no direct flights to Guadalajara (GDL) from the UK so you will need to take a connecting flight. It is usually cheaper to buy the flights separately.
There are regular national flights from Mexico City or Cancun, from Madrid, Spain or from multiple US cities. Choose whatever works best for you.
If you decide to travel via Mexico City, just be mindful that there are two different airports and there is not good transport between them. International flights will usually arrive at Mexico City International Airport (MEX). If you have a connection within that same airport but different terminals, we advise at least 4 hours layover, as you will need to either take the train or bus to the other terminal and go through security again.

Taxis / Transport
Getting around – When landing in GDL airport, we strongly recommend you use an official airport taxi as prices are better regulated. You can also use Uber’s but you will need to take an internal bus to the pick-up point. Be careful to avoid the random people outside offering unofficial rides.
To move around town, Uber is widely available, safe, and often more convenient than taxis.
We don’t recommend renting a car as driving can be difficult if you are not familiar with the roads.

Hotels
We chose Tlaquepaque as the neighbourhood to stay in for its charm, colourful streets, beautiful architecture, and vibrant food and music scene.
We chose Hotel Dex and Quinta Don José as the host hotels, 7 min walk apart. We have pre-booked some rooms which won’t show as available online, so please reach out to us if you need help arranging yours.
Both hotels combine boutique charm, comfort, and authentic Mexican character, making them feel more personal and special than large hotels. They’re beautifully designed, warm, and intimate—ideal for bringing everyone together in a relaxed and welcoming setting.
They’re also perfectly located in the heart of Tlaquepaque, so guests can easily explore the town’s restaurants, shops, and culture on foot.
