Mexico Travel Guide

We’re so grateful you’re making the journey to celebrate our special day. We hope you take the opportunity to explore Mexico, experience its incredible mix of culture, history, food, beaches, and natural beauty, and create unforgettable memories during your visit.

A FEW HELPFUL TIPS

  • Mexico is a big place, domestic flights make it easy to travel between regions.
  • Major cities are not walking friendly, we recommend taking Uber as a safer option in unfamiliar areas.
  • Mexican Peso (MXN) is the local currency.
  • Credit/debit cards are widely accepted, but carrying a bit of cash is recommended for smaller purchases.
  • Avoid drinking tap water. Bottled or filtered water is recommended.
  • Spanish is the official language, though English is commonly spoken in tourist areas.
  • Tipping is customary in restaurants, bars, and for tour services (10-15% expected)

places to explore

MEXICO CITY

Explore historic landmarks, world-class museums, beautiful neighborhoods, and one of the world’s most exciting food scenes.

Riviera Maya

Home to Cancun, Playa del Carmen, and Tulum, offering white-sand beaches, turquoise waters, cenotes, and ancient Mayan ruins.

OAXACA

Oaxaca city is known for its rich culture, colourful streets, artisan crafts, and some of Mexico’s most celebrated cuisine. Also worth visiting Puerto Escondido, a surf town with golden beaches.

San Miguel de Allende and guanajuato

Charming colonial cities in Guanajuato filled with cobblestone streets, art galleries, rooftop restaurants, and beautiful architecture.

RIVIERA MAYA

Riviera Maya is the beautiful Caribbean coastline that stretches south from Cancún to Tulum. We personally recommend limiting your time in Cancun, which is more focused on big touristy resorts, and instead, prioritise seeing nature, cenotes, Mayan ruins, eco-parks, for a more relaxed, authentic atmosphere around Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Akumal or Tulum.
